The reinforced concrete wastewater tanks in the wastewater treatment plant are responsible for treating the wastewater from the entire plant. The wastewater discharged by urban residents and various industrial enterprises enters the sewage treatment plant, where it undergoes processes such as water distribution, pre-treatment, biological treatment, sludge treatment, and even advanced treatment before being discharged in compliance with standards. All of this wastewater passes through reinforced concrete tanks. Due to the presence of various corrosive substances in the wastewater, it can easily cause the anti-corrosion coating on the concrete of these tanks to wear away; in severe cases, this can affect the normal operation of the sewage treatment plant. Therefore, it is necessary to take measures to protect the concrete of these tanks. There are many methods available for preventing corrosion in sewage treatment systems, including rubber lining, fiberglass lining, brick and tile lining, and plastic lining. However, these methods are relatively difficult to implement in engineering projects and come at high costs. The 100% solid-based spray-type elastomeric polyurethane anti-corrosion and wear-resistant material comes with a complete set of equipment, making it easy to apply and highly efficient; the desired design thickness can be achieved in just one application. Coatings currently used in sewage treatment projects include epoxy coal tar pitch, chlorinated rubber, and chlorosulfonated polyethylene. However, the corrosion resistance of these anti-corrosion coatings is limited; as a result, the paint film tends to flake, crack, or develop bubbles, and in severe cases it may even peel off, losing its function and leading to corrosion of steel and concrete structures as well as subsequent leakage. However, the spray-applied elastomeric polyurethane anti-corrosion material used by our company possesses exceptional wear resistance in submerged conditions, a property that no other material can match, and it can withstand acidic and alkaline erosion with a pH range of 3 to 11. The service life of this product is far longer than that of rubber and other rigid wear-resistant materials. In the submerged state, its wear resistance is 8 times that of cemented carbide steel, 7 times that of vulcanized rubber, and 3 times that of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. Corrosion-resistant coatings used in the protection of wastewater treatment equipment should meet the following requirements: they must have good adhesion to steel and concrete structures, strong resistance to aging as well as impermeability and corrosion resistance, be able to withstand the long-term erosion caused by various corrosive agents present in wastewater, be easy to apply, cause no environmental pollution, exhibit good reproducibility in terms of appearance, and ensure a continuous coating layer. These are precisely the characteristics of 100% solid-based spray-on elastomeric polyurethane anti-corrosion and wear-resistant materials: corrosion resistance and wear resistance; excellent physical and chemical properties such as tensile strength, elongation, flexibility, wear resistance, aging resistance, and corrosion protection ; The formula can be adjusted as needed, ranging from soft rubber (Shore A30) to hard elastomers (Shore D90), to meet various operational requirements ; It has excellent corrosion resistance, capable of withstanding the erosion of acids, alkalis, oils, water, and other substances at pH levels ranging from 3 to 11; its anti-corrosive properties are outstanding ; It features high resistance to salt spray corrosion and good freeze resistance, allowing for normal operation over a wide temperature range of -57°C to 93°C. Special models can withstand high temperatures of up to 170°C. Exceptional adhesion performance: Different primers and adhesives are used depending on the substrate, allowing suitable primers and adhesives to be found for all metal and non-metal substrates ; It has poor adhesion to silicone rubber and molecular polyethylene. Eco-friendly paint: two-component, 100% solid content, environmentally harmless, free of any volatile organic compounds (VOCs) ; It cures rapidly, does not contain a catalyst, and can be sprayed and shaped on any curved, inclined, or vertical surface without sagging; it has a short gel time, with walking strength achievable within just a few dozen minutes. It has an attractive appearance; various colors and dyes are used to create products in different hues. As a result, it remains clean, retains its attractive color, and does not fade over time ; It has good prototype reproducibility; the coating is continuous and dense, free of seams and pinholes, offering both aesthetic appeal and practicality, along with excellent UV protection. Currently, a corrosion-resistant maintenance method is gaining popularity both domestically and internationally. 100% solid-based sprayable elastic polyurethane materials resistant to corrosion and wear meet this need, demonstrating the advantages of 100% solid-based polyurethanes in protecting sewage treatment equipment from corrosion; as a result, they hold great potential for use in such equipment.
