According to the anti-corrosion guidelines, the dosage of corrosion inhibitors should be ≤ 20 ppm of the overhead distillate. So what does the overhead distillate include? Reduced crown oil? Or subtract the top and add one? If the amount of oil removed from the top is very small, my plant has a capacity of 6 t/d; based on this amount of oil removed, the required dosage of corrosion inhibitor is 0.12 kg per day. It doesn’t meet the actual needs at all. What is the basis for reducing the dosage of top-coating corrosion inhibitors in other affiliated units?
The addition amount specified in the guidelines should be 20 ppm of the total volume of gas oil distillates. This is only a recommended dosage; the actual amount to be added should depend on the type of corrosion inhibitor and the actual operating conditions. Factors such as the acidity and sulfur content of the crude oil being processed, as well as the control temperature at the top of the vacuum distillation tower, can all lead to the need to adjust the dosage of the corrosion inhibitor, so there is no one-size-fits-all solution. In summary, keeping the final iron ion concentration below 3 mg/l and the pH value between 5 and 6 ensures that the amount of corrosion inhibitor added is appropriate.
