The figure below shows the condition of the tube bundles in the atmospheric and vacuum distillation overhead oil coolers in petrochemical refineries without anti-corrosion treatment, as well as after 3 years, 5 years, and 8 years of use with such treatment.
Without comparison, there is no harm. The people in my unit say that corrosion usually occurs at both the beginning and the end; the beginning refers to the distillation unit!
This is used in acetylene generation. Do I have to cry myself unconscious?
