Case Study Sharing: Application Industry – Chemicals; Customer – Chemical Product Manufacturer; Application Location – Mechanical drive hatch covers. Sealing products previously used: Composite asbestos gaskets. Problems encountered: The equipment inside the hatch operates at high speeds back and forth; there is no pressure difference between the inside and outside of the hatch, so airtightness is not required. What needs to be sealed is the lubricating oil spilled by the equipment inside the hatch. The composite asbestos gaskets used earlier were prone to damage, which led to sealing failures. Proposed solution and benefits for the customer: After testing and analysis, the technicians recommended using Fle*ngSeal SF100. This gasket is made entirely of pure polytetrafluoroethylene and possesses properties such as resistance to extreme temperatures, acids and alkalis, corrosion, aging, as well as self-lubrication. Secondly, the Fle*ngSeal SF100 high-performance sealing tape produced through patented processes features a highly fibrous internal structure with a more uniform distribution of its microstructure, which gives it improved filling properties and creep resistance, as well as – and this is particularly important – consistency in its sealing performance. In addition, Fle*ngSeal comes with adhesive on its back, making installation easy; it can provide a seal that fits the contours of the surface, thus saving time spent on manufacturing and installing gaskets, reducing the need for more installation personnel, and lowering costs. This material is soft, compressible, and easy to shape; it can achieve a good fit at the micro-cracks and defects in the sealing interface under low pressure, thereby effectively protecting brittle structural materials and ensuring a secure seal. Good sealing performance can be achieved for non-metallic materials such as glass, ceramics, graphite, and plastics. It can also compensate for errors caused by machining defects, rigid deformation, misalignment during installation, etc., as well as uneven pre-tension forces; it is effective in addressing leakage problems of various gases and liquids under complex conditions.
