To ensure good quality in industrial coating applications, 5 principles of management should be followed. 1. Process management: This begins with the management of coating raw materials; the goal is to strictly control the quality of these materials, prevent substandard products from being used in production, and only allow them to be utilized after appropriate process measures are taken, thereby ensuring proper production standards and coating quality. The main aspects of material management include: ① The technical specifications for materials must be complete ； ②Sample and inspect the raw materials entering the factory ； ③Ensure proper storage and transportation ； ④Conduct thorough research on coatings ； ⑤Prepare the paint and other materials that will be used. Furthermore, ensuring compliance with process regulations involves conducting regular or irregular inspections of painting process documents, the way in which these processes are carried out, the condition of painting equipment, and the quality of the painted surfaces. These inspections are usually organized by the process department, with participation from process engineers, technical inspectors, and production managers. The purpose is to verify that all necessary painting process documents are available, and that the procedures for quality control, any changes made to those documents, and the approval processes are all in accordance with regulations. During the production process, it is necessary to strictly control the process parameters of various coating equipment and processes in accordance with the requirements of the process documents, and to regularly monitor and test these parameters. 2 Equipment Management: Painting equipment is the hardware that determines the quality of painting, but no matter how good or advanced such equipment may be, it will be of no use if not managed properly. Keeping the painting equipment in good technical condition is one of the essential requirements to ensure the order of painting production and the quality of the paint application. To manage painting equipment properly, sound rules and regulations are necessary: ① Key equipment should come equipped with operating procedures ； ②Each piece of equipment should have a dedicated person in charge; the foreman, adjuster, operator, or maintenance staff should regularly check the equipment’s operating condition on a daily basis and keep records of it ； ③Plans for the inspection and maintenance of major critical equipment should be developed to ensure regular upkeep. 3 Quality Management Coating is a relatively complex manufacturing process, in which the quality of the phosphating and chromating layers has a significant impact on the quality of the coating. Especially in painting processes that use manual pre-treatment, quality inspection must be strengthened. To ensure coating quality, it is necessary to assign appropriate quality inspectors on the continuous production line to oversee the quality control. To avoid excessive rework and high waste rates, it is necessary to define the quality requirements for each processing step clearly, strengthen on-site quality inspection, and improve the quality management system in order to ensure strict control over product quality. 4 On-site Environment Management: The environment at the work site has a direct impact on the quality of painting; a tidy and clean site is a necessary condition for achieving high-quality paintwork. Therefore, the painting workshop should adopt the “3S” workplace management method to organize production and strengthen on-site management. Specifically as follows: Sorting: Separate the items that are needed from those that are not at the production site, and remove the unnecessary items. Organization: Determine the location and quantity of items needed at the production site, and put away everything that is in disarray to create order. Cleaning: Clean the production area thoroughly. 5 Personnel Management In the painting management system, there is a high degree of flexibility in personnel management. A clear personnel management system must be established, and the rules and regulations must be strictly followed.
