Stainless steel reactor, S30408; mechanical and hydraulic commissioning in progress; water inlet process taking about 2 days； On the lower head, there are several pits on the base metal at the location of the large R corner. The water has been tested, and the chloride ion content is within acceptable limits. What do you think could be causing these pits? There are photos of the area with pits, taken from a top-down view of the tank
Why wasn’t the photo sent?
It is possible that during assembly or transportation, the reaction vessel was subjected to mechanical shock or excessive pressure, resulting in dents on the surface of the material. Further inspection is needed to check for signs of improper installation or external impact. .
Is it a quality issue with the head? Is the head formed by pressing a whole plate?
It’s most likely a residue from the manufacturing process; it’s impossible for corrosion to be this severe even after a few days of operation
It seems that a thorough inspection wasn’t carried out during the acceptance process
