On August 19, the two-year campaign to address corrosion-related risks at Jilin Fuel Ethanol Company came to an end. This effort not only improved the appearance of the factory premises but also eliminated numerous safety hazards, laying a foundation for the company’s development. Since its commissioning in 2003, the company’s production facilities and supporting systems have been operating under high load conditions, with corrosion risks accumulating over the years; yet no systematic and comprehensive remediation efforts have been carried out. 7 sets of production equipment and 12 sets of auxiliary equipment are facing severe challenges – pipeline corrosion, damaged insulation layers, corrosion of steel structures, failed roof waterproofing, peeling walls, cracked roads... These problems not only affect production stability but also pose a threat to the safety of employees. In 2024, the company made significant decisions with a strong sense of responsibility and foresight, launching a three-year campaign to address corrosion-related issues, in order to completely reverse the trend of equipment aging and lay a solid foundation for the safety of its facilities. Over the past two years, governance efforts have been advanced comprehensively, yielding significant results. Comprehensive repair to eliminate potential hazards. 23,800 square meters were repaired to address waterproofing issues; 5,290 meters of rainwater drainage pipes were replaced; 52,393 square meters of peeling wall coverings were fixed; 29,396 square meters of concrete surfaces and 20,403 square meters of asphalt surfaces were repaired. These actions effectively resolved problems such as leaks, water accumulation, and safety hazards related to traffic. The device has been upgraded, enhancing intrinsic safety. 2,264 meters of corroded cable tray panels were replaced, 37,345 square meters of insulated aluminum sheeting and 3,105 cubic meters of insulation material were updated, and high-standard anti-corrosion treatment was applied to 574 tons of steel structures and 159,443 square meters of roof surfaces. The area coated with anti-corrosion paint on the pipelines amounts to 37,154 square meters, which significantly extends the lifespan of the key equipment. Investment in science yields remarkable results. Today, the facility has a completely renewed appearance, leaks have been drastically reduced, the working conditions for employees have improved significantly, and the company’s level of intrinsic safety has reached a new height. Tackling governance challenges with determination. This special initiative reflects the company’s firm commitment to building garden-style factories, as well as a practical demonstration of its care for its employees who work like family. Through systematic planning and phased implementation, interim successes have been achieved within two years, and the remaining tasks will be advanced steadily as planned. Only by laying a solid foundation can one move forward steadily and sustainably. Addressing corrosion risks not only resolved past issues but also laid a solid foundation for the company to improve its efficiency and pursue green, low-carbon development. Moving forward, we will build on this new foundation, uphold high standards and strict requirements in ensuring safe production, and contribute to the development of a modern and sustainable fuel ethanol industry.
