Revision of the \"Code for External Anti-corrosion Design of Chemical Equipment and Piping\" commenced. On September 19, the China Petroleum and Chemical Survey and Design Association held in Hefei, Anhui, the meeting to establish the working group for revising the \"Code for External Anti-corrosion Design of Chemical Equipment and Piping\" (HG/T 20679) as well as the first working session, thus officially launching the process of revising this standard. The meeting covered the background of the standard revision, the preliminary preparation work, and the draft outline for the revision. It focused on the revision plan, technical challenges, task allocation, and timeline, and it was noted that the revision efforts would be aimed at keeping up with the latest technological advancements and industry needs, in order to enhance the standard’s relevance, applicability, and international influence, thereby providing stronger technical support and standardization for the safe, green, and sustainable development of China’s chemical industry. The experts present had in-depth discussions on key topics such as the new developments in anti-corrosion materials, protection requirements under extreme operating conditions, alignment with international standards, and the establishment of green and low-carbon indicators. It is reported that China Chemical Donghua Company possesses extensive technical expertise and rich engineering experience in the field of chemical corrosion prevention, which will provide valuable insights for the standard revision process. The anti-corrosion of chemical equipment and pipelines is the “first line of defense” for ensuring the safety of chemical plants, extending the lifespan of facilities, and achieving green and low-carbon development. As China’s chemical industry moves toward larger scale, greener practices, and greater international integration, new materials, new processes, and new concepts continue to emerge, placing higher demands on anti-corrosion design. This conference was hosted by Donghua Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Sinochem, and organized by Sinochem Donghua (Anhui) New Materials Co., Ltd. Leaders, experts, and representatives from numerous well-known engineering companies, research institutions, and material manufacturers across the country attended the event, including those from the China Petroleum and Chemical Exploration and Design Association, China Global Engineering Co., Ltd., Sinochem Tianchen Company, Chengda Company, Wuhuan Company, Hualu Company, and Sinopec Nanjing Engineering Company.
