Hongbai New Materials has announced a patent for \"a silicon-based aerogel composite material, as well as its preparation method and applications.\" According to the Tianyancha app, a patent with this title, filed by Jiangxi Hongbai New Materials Co., Ltd., was recently made public. The abstract indicates that this invention relates to the fields of building, chemical engineering, and energy insulation technology; it discloses a silicon-based aerogel composite material, as well as its preparation method and applications. This material is prepared from tetraethyl orthosilicate, methyltrimethoxysilane, allyltriethoxysilane, pentaerythritol tetra(3-mercaptopropionate), N-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl)furanamine, N-(3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl)maleimide, a photoacid generator, and a photoinitiator. The composite material features a three-dimensional porous silica network framework and a polymer interpenetrating network; the former is formed by the copolymerization of tetraethyl orthosilicate and methyltrimethoxysilane, while the latter is formed through the reaction of pentaerythritol tetra(3-mercaptopropionate) with allyltriethoxysilane. The preparation method includes steps of sol preparation, photocuring, solvent replacement, surface hydrophobic modification, and drying at atmospheric pressure. This material exhibits excellent thermal insulation and mechanical properties in the fields of building insulation, pipeline insulation, and cryogenic insulation.
