Antifouling paint is a special type of coating applied to ship bottoms and underwater marine facilities. Its main function is to gradually release toxic substances through mechanisms such as the seepage, diffusion, or hydrolysis of these substances within the paint film, thereby preventing marine organisms from attaching to the hulls of ships or underwater marine structures. Research by Hu et al. has found that graphene oxide is an excellent antibacterial material with low cytotoxicity toward mammalian cells. Therefore, graphene has potential for use in anti-fouling coatings. Ma Zhenqing prepared a composite material by loading cuprous oxide on graphene oxide as a carrier, and investigated its antibacterial properties. The results showed that the graphene oxide/cuprous oxide composite exhibited good antibacterial properties, with a longer antibacterial effect time than cuprous oxide alone. Liu Wenchao used graphene oxide as a carrier to load nanosilver, and the resulting composite material exhibited good antibacterial properties, stability, and bactericidal efficacy, making it suitable for the preparation of anti-fouling coatings. Yue Xin added graphene and modified graphene to epoxy resin to study its anti-corrosion and anti-fouling properties. The results show that the addition of graphene can enhance the anti-corrosion and antibacterial properties of the coating, and modified graphene, due to its more uniform dispersion, can more effectively improve the coating’s anti-corrosion and anti-fouling capabilities.
