Plastic pipes are the preferred choice in the field of sewage transmission due to their advantages such as corrosion resistance and smooth inner surfaces. Plastic pipes made from different materials are suitable for various sewage applications, with the following specific characteristics: 1. PVC-U (polyvinyl chloride) pipes are the most widely used plastic pipes in building drainage systems. They come in several subtypes designed for different applications: For domestic wastewater drainage, they are widely used in residential and office buildings thanks to their corrosion resistance, smooth inner surfaces that reduce clogging, ease of installation, and low cost. Additionally, specialized versions with hollow walls or spiral designs have been developed to address noise issues associated with drainage in high-rise buildings. Buried sewage disposal: PVC-U double-wall corrugated pipes are suitable for buried sewage disposal and wastewater treatment applications; they are resistant to chemical corrosion. Their hollow corrugated structure provides both light weight and high ring stiffness, making them suitable for industrial drainage needs. 2. HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) pipes are widely used in large-scale municipal sewage treatment projects and represent the preferred material for underground sewage networks. HDPE double-wall corrugated pipes feature high ring stiffness, resistance to compression and impact, as well as immunity to acid and alkali corrosion. They utilize elastic sealing rings for plug-and-socket connections, ensuring good sealing and minimizing leakage. Additionally, they are lightweight and easy to install, making them suitable for use in municipal drainage systems and for transporting wastewater in sewage treatment plants. Their service life can exceed 50 years. PE wrapped structural wall pipes: Utilizing hot-wrapping formation plus electrofusion joining technology, these pipes have zero leakage at the joints; they are suitable for use in various soil conditions and at different depths underground, making them the preferred pipes for buried rainwater and sewage pipelines as well as underground utility tunnels. HDPE single-blade spiral drain pipe: As a new type of silent product, it achieves efficient and quiet drainage thanks to the flexibility of the material and its spiral structure, making it suitable for high-rise buildings, hospitals, and other environments where noise control is important. 3. Coated steel pipes belong to the category of steel-plastic composite pipes and are suitable for the disposal of industrial wastewater with complex compositions. With a steel pipe as the base, plastic anti-corrosion layers are welded onto the inner and outer surfaces, combining the high strength of steel pipes with the corrosion resistance of plastics. Polyethylene or epoxy resin coatings can be chosen depending on the composition of the industrial wastewater, thereby meeting the disposal requirements for highly corrosive industrial wastewater from industries such as chemicals, printing and dyeing, and electroplating. 4. New types of resource-based piping materials: Recently, China has developed new drainage pipes made from municipal sludge as a resource. The sludge generated in wastewater treatment is first carbonized and its composition is adjusted, after which it is used as half of the raw material for producing these piping materials, thereby achieving the use of waste to treat other waste. These products are now in the pilot production stage, opening up new avenues for wastewater treatment and the utilization of solid waste.
