You use the door-type formula to calculate thermal compensation, but using software for stress calculation here is not aimed at addressing secondary stresses; rather, it is used to deal with the issues of stress on the supports and any potential lifting off of these supports, and for that purpose software is needed to calculate the springs. Of course, the spring can also be calculated manually, but that would be rather troublesome.
