Is it better to use air agitation or mechanical agitation in the desulfurization wastewater regulation tank? Why? ?
The structure and installation method of mechanical stirrers require that the stirring equipment remain submerged in liquid throughout the year, making it susceptible to corrosion, resulting in high operating costs and posing difficulties for subsequent maintenance. Therefore, for corrosive wastewater, air agitation is a better option; corrosion-resistant materials should be used for the pipelines, and the porosity should be determined based on the tank area and the volume of air supplied. Although air agitation can be widely used in the equalization tanks of wastewater treatment plants, it should still be avoided as much as possible in certain wastewater treatment projects: (1) Wastewater containing fine inorganic suspended solids. Such as wastewater from traditional Chinese medicine manufacturing, this type of wastewater contains fine, fibrous suspended particles; prolonged use of perforated tubes for aeration and stirring can easily lead to the blockage of those pores, resulting in the failure of the stirring system. (2) If phosphorus removal is considered in wastewater treatment, air agitation should not be used before anaerobic treatment. Dissolved oxygen is introduced during air agitation; if such dissolved oxygen enters the anaerobic tank, it will affect anaerobic phosphorus release, thereby impacting the phosphorus removal efficiency. (3) If the pH of the wastewater is low and there is a possibility of acid mist formation, careful consideration should be given to whether to use air agitation. (4) If the wastewater contains highly volatile and toxic or harmful organic substances, careful consideration should be given to whether to use air agitation.
