I have a question: The load values calculated by CAESAR include many different operating conditions, such as the operational condition OPE, the installation condition SUS, and the EXP condition, among others. When providing these load conditions to the structural engineering team, if the highest load occurs under the EXP condition, should the load value corresponding to that EXP condition be used? Or should we only select the condition with the highest load among OPE and SUS?
The way you ask shows that you still don’t understand the very basic meaning of these operating conditions at all. Simply put, SUS represents primary stress, EXP represents secondary stress, OPE refers to the operating conditions; setting conditions means specifying the stresses under those operating conditions
I don’t agree with you. You mentioned the force acting under operation; if the force required for installation is greater than that in the operating state, isn’t that an overly aggressive design?
Of course, what you say makes sense – the forces acting under SUS need to be taken into account, but EXP is in a purely thermal state, so there’s no need to consider those forces

It depends on the company’s internal regulations; this matter is quite flexible – it’s possible to specify multiple operating conditions separately. However, the civil engineering design also needs to be carried out based on these conditions, which increases the workload. I usually provide several operating conditions to the civil engineering team, including different values for wind loads as well; It is impossible to consider only one operating condition in the design, nor can all the most dangerous operating conditions fall under a single condition ; It depends on the regulations in various industries; pipelines in different fields may have different requirements.
