I would like to ask: In the companies where you work, when samples are sent from various workshops to the laboratory for testing, and once the testing is complete the data is sent back to those workshops, how is data transfer and management handled in such processes? What software is used for this purpose?
Our company is probably small in scale; currently, the testing data is mainly provided via phone calls or through workshop records. I’m also thinking about whether there’s any software that allows for online input and viewing of this data
Aren’t limbs a bit too complicated? Generally, small and medium-sized enterprises don’t use them
What is the size of your company? Our team here has only around 150 members, and we’re always notified verbally over the phone; sometimes we have to call repeatedly to ask if the results are ready. The most troublesome thing is that the data cannot be saved, and it’s not possible to view historical records – it’s really inconvenient. I saw this situation as well, so I wanted to post a thread to ask everyone about it. I work in instrument control, and using my knowledge I developed a software for managing laboratory test data for my own company; I’ll share it with everyone once it’s ready. The basic functions that the software can currently perform are: 1. Workshops can submit testing requests online; 2. Testing results are provided online; 3. Historical testing data can be viewed; 4. Trend charts of the data can be accessed. Features that may be added in the future include a shift handover function, which reads data from DCS and PLC systems and then compares it with laboratory test data to identify trends
We are 500 people in total. At present, all data from the laboratory is entered into EXCEL sheets by team units, and these sheets are sent out daily; all test records can be viewed through these electronic sheets. If you want to view a trend chart, you’ll have to create one in the table yourself

With software, work becomes easier, but it can easily lead to errors in data entry in the laboratory, which in turn results in incorrect readings of test results in the workshop. On our end, the laboratory is on the third floor, while the DCS control systems for each workshop are located on the first floor. The process is as follows: First, in the sampling phase, the person in charge of the DCS for each workshop notifies the analysts to go to the workshop to take samples. II. The process for reporting test results involves analyzing the data sheets containing the test results; these sheets are signed by the personnel responsible for the analysis, and then the analysts personally deliver them to the supervisors of each workshop in the DCS control room. The supervisors sign to confirm receipt, after which the DCS supervisors of each workshop inform their respective workers. III. The statisticians in each workshop enter the analysis results into Excel for easy tracking of historical trends. This creates a rigorous process for sampling analysis and data feedback. And with strict accountability procedures, errors are unlikely to occur. It is more reliable than checking the results online.
Communication between personnel is carried out entirely through walkie-talkies
