The system consists of four components: an offline simulation system, an operational simulation system, a pipeline network trainer system, and a simulation visualization platform. A 1:1 mathematical model of the actual pipelines was established, and a total of 938 real-time instrument points from the SCADA (Data Acquisition and Supervisory Control) system were acquired; the automatic simulation calculation time is 30 seconds or less. In the face of process operation challenges such as the complex circular and multi-branch structure of pipeline networks, as well as variable gas flow directions and uneven gas volumes, the Production and Operation Department (Science and Technology Information Department) of Shandong Pipeline Company has, since January 10 this year, organized a task force to work on developing an online simulation system for natural gas pipelines. They collect pipeline operation parameters such as pipe length, diameter, wall thickness, and data acquisition points, and use methods like the OPC protocol for transmission as well as network gateway security measures to enable data transfer from the SCADA system to this platform; they also test the transmission routes repeatedly ; Conducted data validation and debugging, and innovatively developed a visual interface for the simulation system ; More than 10 training sessions on system construction were organized, along with over 30 simulation exams using training tools, and ultimately the development of this system was completed. It is reported that this system delivers a highly realistic simulation experience, capable of sending computational data in real time to a front-end visualization platform for service dispatchers to optimize production operations ; It supports a wide range of pipeline application scenarios, providing decision-making support for real-time monitoring, short-term trend prediction, and emergency response planning ; A flexible and convenient training model has been implemented, allowing employees to experience various normal and abnormal operations in a safe environment, thereby meeting the needs of pre-job training and assessments ; A visual cockpit has been implemented, which converts data into graphs or images for display on the screen, helping employees better understand business operations and make decisions more quickly. The deployment of this system not only provides Shandong’s pipeline network with diversified dynamic simulation across the entire lifecycle and for all business scenarios, thereby enhancing the level of comprehensive monitoring, intelligent management, and optimized decision-making for such networks, but it also facilitates real-time tracking of pipeline inventory and proactive scheduling during winter periods to ensure the safe and stable operation of Shandong’s gas transmission pipelines.
