In flowcharts/P&IDs, pipe numbers can be extracted in one go (1 second); this data can then be copied into Pdsoft’s pipe number database (10 seconds). 2. Device identifiers in flowcharts can also be extracted in one go, as well as those in equipment layout diagrams; this is used to check for consistency between the identifiers in the flowcharts and those in the layout diagrams, as well as to identify any missing identifiers. 3. Pdsoft allows for batch layer addition (including pipe number layers and device layers – devices are organized by layer), which eliminates the need to select colors twice in Pdsoft. More details on batch color handling will be provided later. 4. Axonometric views can be merged, making it easier to modify, search for, and replace elements, as well as to print multiple copies at once. A series of additional operations specific to Pdsoft are also available. Note: The merging graphic plugins available on the market can be used, but you might want to try turning all hidden layers back on and then scaling to see if hundreds of graphics will indeed not cause any issues 5. Batch layer visibility – Show/Hide layers: It is possible to hide pipes that interfere with capture points. ——Buildings can be hidden to facilitate piping installation. 6. Layer coloring – It’s possible to color by medium, which makes it easier to see the colors after exporting to Navisworks. Knowing the medium allows for coloring according to it, ensuring consistency with the actual colors used in the facility and facilitating communication with the client. It’s also possible to color only one pipe while leaving others unchanged; this helps to highlight the target pipe for easier identification of points. The pipes can be highlighted so that their paths are clearly visible. Compared to hiding pipes, coloring them allows for an analysis of the relationship between the target pipe and nearby pipes, as they remain visible when colored. 7. Dead point issues: The problem is that pipes cannot be completely deleted; during design checks, there are always breakpoints no matter what changes are made. Pipes that cannot be completely deleted cannot be selected, causing rendering errors, freezes, or delays. All these issues stem from “dead points” – like not wiping one’s butt properly. 8. Pipe breakpoint detection, with target line positioning and color highlighting, makes it easy to correct errors. 9. Absence of main pipe nozzles: When a device is selected, it’s not possible to select some of its nozzles at the same time. Without main pipe nozzles, the associated device labels cannot be displayed in axonometric views. Thus, some information is missing – the plugin can easily determine which pipes lack labels and where they are located. 10. Check the pipe numbers in the pipeline model against those in the P&ID – this requires the functionality mentioned in point 2 above; first, the pipe numbers need to be extracted from the P&ID. Phenomena: Incorrect pipe diameter selected; incorrect pipe grade selected; incorrect pipe insulation selected; pipe numbers missing and no piping installed; valves, fittings, special accessories, and instruments missing in the pipes. When copying the instrument tag numbers, no changes were made and duplicates occurred – all of these issues can be resolved. 11. In the database, the information related to the components in the pipeline specifications does not match the actual requirements: for example, the standard code is incorrect; in the case of M1B, the specified material is 20g, but in reality 20# material was used; for DN400, welded steel pipes should be used, but seamless steel pipes were actually specified, and so on. With hundreds of such specifications, how can one check them all individually? ——Generate a grade table from the model and compare it with the actual grade table required. 12. Building facades: In the field of civil engineering, architectural drawings are floor plans – these plans are combined to create three-dimensional buildings; what is seen is what will be obtained, and building modeling is used for this purpose. Is building modeling convenient? You can’t figure it out if you’ve never seen it. 13. For socket weld pipes, the elbows are not installed automatically, which results in missing elbows – check for missing elbows in the pipes. 14. To be continued. I’ve used this software, and it’s really great – it boosts efficiency; whether it’s dealing with PIDs or piping systems, the efficiency doubles
