CAD drawing software provides virtual two-dimensional and three-dimensional spaces to facilitate drawing. Since there is space, there must be coordinates. In CAD, this coordinate is called the "world coordinate system". But for drawing, the world coordinate system is not very convenient to use, so there is the CAD user coordinate system. This CAD software sets a reference coordinate system different from the world coordinate system according to the user's needs, also known as UCS. Next, let me introduce to you some common applications of the user coordinate system in Haochen CAD~ 1. Coordinate origin adjustment to facilitate coordinate annotation. Some mechanical parts and molds have a large number of holes or other graphic features. The usual approach for designers is to determine a base point in the graphics, adjust the UCS origin to the base point, and then use coordinate annotation for dimensioning. If combined with continuous labeling, the labeling is very fast and the drawing is neat, as shown in the figure below: In the picture above, you can see that the origin of the UCS coordinates is set at the intersection of the center line. Of course, you can also move the entire graphic so that the intersection of the center line is exactly at the origin of the world coordinate system. However, if there are multiple part graphics in a drawing, you can only use UCS. 2. Adjust the coordinate direction to facilitate drawing inclined drawings. Some community and municipal planning drawings are inclined, as shown in the figure below. It is inconvenient to draw or produce a picture if it is kept in the tilted state, so the coordinate system is usually rotated to turn the graphics into the forward direction. The basic operation method is as follows: 1. Enter the UCS command and press Enter. 2. Enter the Z option, enter the angle to be rotated, and rotate the UCS by a certain angle along the Z circle. When the angle is unclear, you can enter the E (object) option and select the upper or lower border line. 3. Enter the PLAN command, press Enter, and switch the view to the UCS plan view, as shown in the figure below: Tips: In Haochen CAD, when adjusting UCS, the view can be automatically adjusted to the plane view of UCS. You can enter the UCSFOLLOW command and then set the value to 1. 3. In order to facilitate subsequent modeling to position the coordinate system to a certain surface of the model, it is often necessary to frequently switch views and switch UCS during 3D modeling. To learn 3D modeling well, you must first understand how to use UCS. Suppose we want to draw a cylinder on the side of a cube, we need to define UCS on the side of the cube. The operation is very simple. Enter the UCS command, press Enter, enter the F (face) option, and then select a side of the cube in the figure, as shown in the figure below: Haochen CAD will prompt some adjustment options. For example, the N option can position the UCS to the adjacent surface, and the X\Y option can adjust the direction of the XY axis. After positioning the UCS to the side of the cube, you can draw other graphics directly on the side of the cube, as shown in the figure below: UCS has many other options, which can be applied to different needs.
