When using the HaoChen CAD drawing software, various CAD fonts are often needed. However, some people find it difficult to locate the larger font styles they want when setting them, and don’t know what to do. So, what fonts are available in HaoChen CAD? What exactly does the large font that many people often use refer to? Let me give you a detailed introduction next! Introduction to CAD font classifications: I. Classification of shape files (*.shx) 1. *.shx files are referred to as shape files in HaoChen CAD; they are divided into two types: font files and symbol shape files ; Font files are divided into two types, which can be called small fonts and large fonts. 2. The small font type includes only single-byte characters (referred to as half-width characters in input methods) such as digits, letters, and symbols. Those listed in the left-side list under text styles are all small font files; if a CAD font is to be used for a text style, a small font must first be selected. 3. The most commonly used small font files are simplex.shx and txt.shx; of course, there are also some small font files in China that contain rebar symbols, such as tssdeng.shx. You can use a font viewing tool to see the effect of these small font files, as shown in the figure below. 4. The type of file in small font is actually Unifont; some files also contain a large number of symbols, such as GDT.SHX used for geometric tolerances. 5. Large-font is a font file designed for two-byte (full-width) characters such as Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. In the text style dialog box, “Use large font” must be checked in order to select large-font files from the list on the right. Due to the large number of characters in Chinese and Japanese, as well as the complexity of their definitions, such files are usually quite large, ranging from a few hundred K to several MB. 6. Symbol formats store linetypes, tolerances, or certain symbols that can be directly inserted into drawings; these files cannot be configured using text styles. For example, ltypeshp.shx is a shape file for lines, while aaa.shx is a shape file for symbols. 7. However, when a shape file is missing, replacement can only be done with shapes of the same type. If the symbols used in a drawing are not available, selecting either a small-font or large-font file in the font replacement dialog box will result in an error. II. WINDOWS Fonts 1. In HaoChen CAD, various fonts installed on WINDOWS can be used directly. WINDOWS fonts and CAD fonts cannot be used together within the same text style. 2. When fonts that are not available in the current operating system are used in the image, it is also necessary to find the font files (*.ttf or *.ttc) and then copy them to the FONTS directory in WINDOWS. 3. What is displayed in the CAD text style is the font name of the operating system; if this font is available in the FONTS folder, it can be found there directly. However, the file name is sometimes different from the font name. For example, the file name for the SimSun font is SIMSUN.TTC, so it is necessary to ensure that the correct font file is copied and pasted. 4. Sometimes, our diagrams may show a mixture of CAD’s single-line font and the thick-line font used by the operating system. This is not because a combination of these two fonts has been set in the text style; rather, no font that supports Chinese characters is specified in the text style, and as a result, Chinese characters are displayed automatically in Song typeface, as shown in the figure below.
