During engineering design using the Haochen CAD software, some CAD graphic elements are reused multiple times, such as standard fasteners like screws and nuts in the machinery industry. It is very troublesome and time-consuming to redesign and redraw these frequently used CAD drawings every time. Therefore, in Haochen CAD software, a series of CAD graphic objects that are logically related to each other can be defined as a single entity, referred to as a block. Next, I’ll share with you a comprehensive guide to the quick editing and use of CAD blocks – these are essential skills for CAD designers, and everyone must master them! How to use CAD blocks? When we create blocks, the software also automatically creates a temporary gallery, but this gallery is only for the current document. And when we open other drawings, the temporary library for that drawing is also opened. The insert command and Ctrl+2 call the temporary library, while the tool palette calls the permanent library. 1. Insert command: When using the insert command, click on the drop-down window; all the blocks that have been used in the current drawing will be displayed there. This is the temporary library, as shown in the figure below. It includes not only those that are currently in use, but also those that were once inserted but later deleted. The pu command can be used to delete unused blocks, thereby compressing the CAD document. When inserting a block using the insert command, we can only see the name of the block and a thumbnail of that single block. Therefore, when creating blocks, it is important to give them names that accurately describe their content and that are unique, so as to facilitate their use in later stages. 2. Press Ctrl+2 to open the Design Center, select the graphic you want to work with, then choose Blocks; this will display them in large icons, allowing you to view the blocks used in the current graphic in thumbnail form. This is much more convenient than inserting based on the block name. 3. Tool Palette: If we place a block in the tool palette, it becomes part of the permanent library of blocks. We can easily access it whenever we open any document, and we can also see thumbnails of all the blocks. How to edit CAD blocks? A major advantage of CAD blocks is synchronized modification: once an edit is made to a particular block, other blocks with the same name are also updated accordingly, which greatly facilitates rapid editing of CAD drawings. There are three ways to edit a block. 1. Redefining a block: The method for redefining a block is the same as that for creating a block. Select [Insert] – [Insert Block], choose an already defined block from the drop-down menu, and then specify the base point and the objects involved. 2. Select the block for in-place editing, then right-click and choose [Edit Block In Place]. At this point, all elements other than the block content will turn dark and become uneditable. After making the changes, click \"Save Changes\" in the top-left corner to complete the modification of the block; other blocks with the same name will also be updated accordingly. 3. In the block editor, double-click on the block that needs to be modified to enter the editor for making changes. When closing the block editor, simply select save; the operations are shown in the figure below. The above are the three methods for editing and modifying blocks in Haochen CAD software. The editor recommends the second method the most, as sometimes editing a block requires reference to other graphics; with this method, it is possible to see the contents of other elements while editing the block, unlike the block editor which completely isolates the block from the outside world.
