NSAS Online (Nozzle Strength Analysis System), also known as a software for analyzing the strength of pressure vessel nozzles, is a specialized finite element analysis tool developed by Beijing Sigma Simulation Technology Co., Ltd. It enables local stress analysis and strength assessment of various types of vessel nozzles commonly used in the pressure vessel design industry. NSAS Online currently offers various types of directional nozzles for shells in 8 categories: nozzles on cylindrical shells, nozzles on elliptical heads, nozzles on right-cone shapes, disc-shaped and hemispherical heads, nozzles on flat tops, flanges, and lug-type supports (radial nozzles, eccentric nozzles, and inclined nozzles at any angle on cylindrical shells) ; Right circular cone radial, normal, and eccentric nozzles ; Stress analysis models for the axial, normal, and eccentric nozzles of each head, as well as for the local structures ; Parameter control is provided for the chamfering and rounding of the surface details in the weld area connected to the housing ; Each model offers three types of nozzles: unreinforced, reinforced with a ring, and reinforced as a single forged piece ; The load forms take into account internal pressure and nozzle loads (three-dimensional forces and three-dimensional moments). For most shell nozzles encountered in actual engineering design, finite element models can be automatically established for stress analysis and strength assessment. The NSAS Online interface has been optimized to fit the workflow of pressure vessel engineers. Users only need to select the appropriate module based on the way in which the nozzles are connected to the vessel shell, enter parameters related to geometry, materials, and loads, and the software will automatically create a finite element model and carry out stress analysis calculations. Users do not need to learn how to create geometric models or perform meshing, as is required when using general finite element software, allowing them to master the use of this software quickly. In the software, tasks such as finite element meshing of the model, loading calculations, post-processing of results, and generation of stress analysis reports are all carried out automatically and optimally. Once the stress analysis is completed, the program automatically identifies the critical paths for stress linearization, and performs stress classification and verification in accordance with the JB4732-95 standard \"Steel Pressure Vessels – Analysis and Design Standards\" (confirmed in 2005). A detailed stress analysis report is then generated automatically. The entire process is swiftly completed by our company’s proprietary finite element calculation module, without any need for manual intervention. In 2014, NSAS passed the expert technical evaluation organized by the China Special Equipment Safety and Energy Conservation Promotion Association; the experts gave high praise to NSAS. The evaluation records and list of experts are shown in the figures below: Figure 1 shows the evaluation comments for NSAS, while Figure 2 lists the experts who conducted the evaluation. Unlike traditional software that relies on license keys to control computations, users only need to register and log in to NSAS Online using their mobile phone numbers in order to carry out analyses of pressure vessel nozzles. In this process, the user only needs to select the port to be analyzed, enter the relevant parameters and operating conditions, perform the calculations, view the report, and save it. NSAS Online adopts a model of single calculation, generation of an analysis report, and single payment; users do not need to purchase all analysis modules – they only need to select the models they wish to analyze and pay for those. NSAS Online is a permanent version designed for long-term use; users can continue to utilize it and have it updated regularly. Updates are delivered online, ensuring that the NSAS Online program in use by users is always the latest version. II. Comparison between NSAS and the general-purpose finite element analysis software ANSYS: NSAS Online employs a large sparse matrix solver with independent intellectual property rights, featuring stability, fast speed, and high precision. NSAS and ANSYS use the same finite element mesh model and set the same boundary conditions for finite element analysis, but they carry out the calculations separately. After the solution is obtained, the same stress linearization approach is used in both NSAS and ANSYS. III. Introduction to NSAS Pressure Vessel Nozzle Strength Analysis Software: NSAS Pressure Vessel Nozzle Strength Analysis Software (hereinafter referred to as NSAS) is a finite element analysis software developed by Beijing Sigma Simulation Technology Co., Ltd. It is used for calculating the strength of large-opening structures commonly found in the pressure vessel design industry. It combines a simple and intuitive software interface, an encapsulated finite element analysis process, and professional analysis and calculation reports, which can significantly improve engineers’ work efficiency; it is an essential and valuable tool for engineers. NSAS currently provides a library of model elements in 5 main categories, including openings in cylindrical shells, right-cone openings, and openings in disc, spherical, and elliptical heads, as well as two types of auxiliary models: supports and flanges ; The weld area provides a foot-of-slope form or a rounded corner form ; The reinforcement forms include three types: no reinforcement, ring reinforcement, and full-forged part reinforcement ; The load types include internal pressure and nozzle loads, with the nozzle loads capable of applying forces and moments in three directions. Strength calculation and analysis can be performed for most opening structures encountered in practical engineering design. The NSAS interface is user-friendly and easy to operate; users only need to enter the geometric, material, and loading parameters of the structure to carry out calculations. Users can master the use of the software quickly without requiring any specialized training. In the software, the finite element mesh generation, loading calculations, and result generation are all automatically optimized by the program.
