Our facility produces synthetic ammonia, and the syngas compressors are GE centrifugal compressors. Severe internal leakage in the two-stage anti-surge valves has led to problems such as an inability to increase the system pressure, low production output, high pressure differences, and high steam consumption. Have any of you encountered similar issues? How was it handled – was the anti-surge valve repaired or replaced? The valve is imported. Also, operating in a condition of internal leakage – any good suggestions? Thank you.

Given the special nature of anti-surge valves: they cannot be shut off either at the front or at the back, nor can they be manually closed; instead, repairs must be carried out first while the valve continues to operate despite its defects. At the same time, new components or new valves should be ordered, and once they arrive, the problem can be completely resolved. I don’t know what type of valve it is?
It’s a sleeve valve; we also want to buy new valves to replace it, but they’re too expensive, so we’re still hesitating and want to see how other manufacturers handle similar issues.
