Our company is a producer of synthetic ammonia, and during the waste discharge process, some oil-water mixtures are generated. These used to be discharged into the circulation tank. In order to reduce pipe blockages and improve the quality of the circulating water, we have now added an oil-water collection tank at the waste discharge point; this tank is used to store the oil-water mixture. A submersible pump is used to transfer the oil to an oil recovery system, where it undergoes steam heat exchange and filtration before being reused. We would like to know whether our collection tank falls under the category of oil collection tanks as described in the petrochemical fire protection regulations
It depends on what type of oil it is – engine oil? If it’s engine oil, then it counts; the chemical industry standards can be followed
