In the first three quarters, China exported a total of 19.88 million tons of fertilizers, representing a year-on-year increase of 23%; the total export value was 5.52 billion US dollars, an increase of 19.8% on a year-on-year basis. Thanks to the zero-tariff export policy, exports of potassium sulfate and NPK compound fertilizers have increased significantly. In September, China exported 24,000 tons of potassium sulfate, a year-on-year increase of 37,727.3%; the cumulative export volume for the first three quarters was 279,000 tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 4,340.3%. In September, China exported a total of 131,000 tons of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizers, representing a year-on-year increase of 255.4%; the cumulative export volume for the first three quarters was 774,000 tons, with a year-on-year increase of 204.1%. At the same time, thanks to favorable factors such as India’s urea tenders, urea exports have also shown rapid growth. In September, China exported a total of 550,000 tons of urea, representing a year-on-year increase of 189.5%; the cumulative export volume for the first three quarters was 3.24 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 188.4%. On the import side, in September China imported a total of 1.11 million tons of fertilizers, representing a year-on-year increase of 122% and a month-on-month increase of 70.8%. In the first three quarters, China imported a total of 9.3 million tons of chemical fertilizers, a year-on-year increase of 30.2%; the total import value was 2.94 billion US dollars, representing a year-on-year increase of 48.5%. It is worth noting that China’s imports of potassium chloride have increased significantly – 950,000 tons were imported in September, an increase of 460,000 tons compared to August. The cumulative imports for the first three quarters amounted to 7.7 million tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 38.4%.
