(hereinafter referred to as “Zhonghe Gasification”) won the EPC contract for the sludge carbonization (Phase I) project at the sewage treatment plant in Qi County, Henan Province. This is the first project that Zhonghe Gasification has won in the field of sludge treatment, and it is also the first project in which the company has established cooperation with a local authority, marking significant progress in the development of its business operations. The project plans to install a sludge carbonization unit with a processing capacity of 50 t/d to further treat the sludge generated by the Qi County sewage treatment plant. After dehydration and drying, as well as high-temperature carbonization, the sludge forms carbon compounds with stable chemical properties that are harmless to the environment. The combustible gases generated are burned to provide heat for the carbonization process and the oxidative decomposition of dioxins. Once the project is put into operation, it will effectively address the issue of secondary sludge pollution and improve the local ecological environment. Currently, common methods for disposing of sludge include landfilling, aerobic composting, anaerobic digestion, and drying followed by incineration. These processes have various problems and drawbacks, such as the viscosity of the sludge which makes it difficult to pile it up, the presence of toxic organic substances and heavy metals that are hard to degrade, safety hazards associated with the methane generated, and dioxins produced during incineration. The sludge carbonization and pyrolysis technology developed by Zhonghe Gasification converts the organic components contained in sludge into small-molecule hydrocarbons through dry distillation and thermal decomposition; the heat generated by the combustion of these hydrocarbons is used for the carbonization process as well as for the decomposition of dioxins ; After carbonization, sludge forms carbonized products rich in fixed carbon, which can be used as soil improvement materials or as fertilizers for agriculture and landscaping. It can also be processed into adsorbents, deodorizing agents, fuel, and snow melters. To address the dioxins that may be generated during the carbonization process, Zhonghe Gasification has implemented effective technical measures to safely and effectively destroy and decompose them. The heavy metals in the carbonized products are immobilized, resulting in a significant increase in stability; they can resist leaching under natural conditions and pose no threat to environmental safety. Compared with traditional sludge treatment technologies, the sludge carbonization and pyrolysis technology developed by Zhonghe Gasification features low investment costs, a high level of harm reduction, significant effects in terms of volume reduction and resource utilization, as well as good applicability and economic efficiency. This project has received strong support from Qi County **. The Qi County authorities stated that, as a strategic transportation hub located adjacent to industrial cities such as Hebi and Weihui, the county generates a large amount of hazardous waste each year. They look forward to strengthening cooperation with Zhonghe Gasification in the field of solid and hazardous waste management, in order to create high-quality model projects that deliver both environmental and economic benefits. The Zhi County sludge carbonization project is an important initiative by Zhonghe Gasification to expand its business areas and enter the field of solid waste management. In the future, Zhonghe Gasification will adhere to the business philosophy of \"customer first,\" continue to pay attention to the development of the solid and hazardous waste industry, actively respond to relevant industry policies, and focus on scientific research and innovation in line with the needs of industrial development.
