Recently, the 200,000-ton-per-year ammonia synthesis unit of the 1.2 million tons per year ethylene glycol waste gas recycling project at Sichuan Zhengda Kai New Materials Co., Ltd., which is under the general contracting of China Chengda Engineering Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Chengda Company”), was successfully put into operation, marking the official start of the second phase of the Sichuan Zhengda Kai project. This project is a follow-up to the first phase of the 1.2 million tons per year ethylene glycol project of Sichuan Zhengda Kai New Materials Co., Ltd., which was overall contracted by Chengda Company. Project Overview: The Sichuan Zhengda Kai New Materials Co., Ltd. project, which aims to produce 1.2 million tons of MEG per year along with 100,000 tons of electronic-grade DMC, is planned to be built in the Puguang Chemical Industry Park within the Puguang Economic Development Zone in Sichuan Province. The main components of this project include the production of 1.2 million tons of polyester-grade ethylene glycol and 100,000 tons of electronic-grade dimethyl carbonate (DMC). The total investment for the project is 1,226,865 million yuan, of which 250,900 million yuan is allocated to environmental protection measures. The project is constructed in two phases. In the first phase, the production capacity will be 18,000 tons per year of high-quality DMC produced as a by-product of polyester-grade ethylene glycol, 6,796 tons per year of chemically pure ethanol, 11,900 tons per year of mixed monohydric alcohols, 13,500 tons per year of light dihydric alcohols, and 12,300 tons per year of heavy dihydric alcohols ; The capacity of the second phase is 600,000 tons per year of polyester-grade ethylene glycol, along with 100,000 tons per year of electronic-grade DMC (of which 36,000 tons per year are obtained by purifying high-quality DMC produced as a by-product of ethylene glycol production in phases one and two, while 64,000 tons per year are obtained by removing CO from DMO synthesized in phases one and two); 11,900 tons per year of mixed monohydric alcohols, 13,500 tons per year of light dihydric alcohols, and 12,300 tons per year of heavy dihydric alcohols. Phase 1 of the project: construction of a new syngas production unit, an ethylene glycol synthesis unit, an air separation unit, plant-wide flares, a refrigeration station, a desalinated water station, a recycled water station, intermediate tank areas, raw material and finished product tank areas, waste gas incinerators, a wastewater treatment station, a circulating water station, accident wastewater tanks/initial rainwater tanks, a central laboratory, a fire water station, a temporary storage area for general solid waste, a temporary storage area for hazardous waste, a chemicals warehouse, and a control room for the maternity leave center, etc. Phase 2: Construction of a new syngas production unit, an ethylene glycol synthesis unit, an air separation unit, plant-wide flares, a refrigeration station, a desalinated water station, a recycled water station, intermediate tank areas, raw material and finished product tank areas, waste gas incinerators, a wastewater treatment station, a circulating water station, a central control room, etc.
