On July 11, 2024, the new waste boiler unit for the gasification plant at Yunnan Jiehua Clean Energy Development Co., Ltd.’s ammonia synthesis plant was successfully commissioned for the first time. “After the new waste boiler was put into use, the new waste boiler unit produced 0.6 MPa of steam at a rate of 17–18 t/h more than before, showing significant results. After the new unit was put into operation, all operational parameters were within the designed range, indicating the complete success of the additional waste boiler project. The project commenced construction in July 2023. After nearly a year of effort, construction was completed in June this year, and it has entered the testing phase. “The “New Waste Boilers” project improves steam production by optimizing steam generation through appropriate increases in investment in waste boilers, thereby reducing the company’s overall energy consumption. At the same time, the implementation of this project can also address the following issues existing in the ammonia synthesis plant: first, it solves the problem of gas-liquid two-phase flow in the main pipeline for crude gas, reduces pipeline resistance, ensures that the amount of crude gas entering each old reactor can be adjusted appropriately, improves the heat exchange efficiency of these reactors, and increases their steam production ; The second is to address the issue of dust in raw gas and extend the service life of the subsequent conversion catalysts ; Third, improve the washing and separation efficiency using phenol water ; Fourth, reducing the circulation volume of the expanded phenol water in the subsequent 621 process can decrease the load on the tar separator, improve the quality of the wastewater generated in gasification, and ease the pressure associated with treating the expanded gas. Yunnan Jiehua Chemical Company uses the Lurgi pressurized gasification technology to produce raw material gas, with an annual output of 440,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, 400,000 tons of ammonium nitrate, 224,000 tons of methanol, 150,000 tons of dimethyl ether, 180,000 tons of urea, 270,000 tons of nitric acid, and 62,770 tons of sulfuric acid, among other products. In April 2024, the new No. 2 cloud coal furnace was put into operation.
