According to Sinochem News, recently the “second-generation high-efficiency, low-energy consumption urea synthesis process technology” developed independently by China Fifth Ring Engineering Co., Ltd., which is part of China National Chemical Engineering Corporation, passed the evaluation of scientific and technological achievements organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. The appraisal committee unanimously agreed that this technology is highly innovative, possesses complete independent intellectual property rights, and its overall level is at the international leading stage. The new generation of fully condensing reactors developed by this company, along with the new high-pressure loop process flow, have enabled the two-step urea synthesis reaction to be carried out under their respective optimal conditions for the first time in the world. This has led to a significant increase in the synthesis conversion rate, while steam and recycled water consumption have been greatly reduced, thereby eliminating the energy consumption limitations associated with traditional urea production plants. The 700,000 tons per year urea production plant built by Anhui Haoyuan Chemical Group Co., Ltd. using this technology achieved operating parameters that were better than the design values during a 72-hour on-site evaluation; the consumption of 2.5MPaG saturated steam per unit of urea produced dropped to 562.9 kilograms, reaching an advanced level in the industry. To date, more than 30 sets of the second-generation high-efficiency, low-energy urea production technology have been deployed both domestically and internationally, with an annual production capacity exceeding 25 million tons. This technology has won various awards, including the Hubei Province Patent Gold Award and the First Prize for Technical Progress from the Fertilizer Industry Association. It holds **22 authorized patents, of which 7 are invention patents.
