Amcor teams up with DCM to launch recyclable fertilizer packaging

According to Sinochem New Network, packaging company Amcor recently announced a partnership with the Belgian fertilizer company DCM to develop recyclable, single-material polyethylene fertilizer packaging for the European market. This innovative product replaces DCM’s previously difficult-to-recycle multi-layer composite packaging structure. The new packaging contains 35% post-consumer recycled materials, and is available in weights ranging from 650 grams to 7 kilograms; it not only offers high-performance recyclable solutions but also strongly supports DCM’s sustainable development strategy. Life cycle assessment data show that using films with 35% recycled content can reduce the carbon footprint by 17%, helping brands achieve their goals for carbon reduction and a circular economy. In addition to its environmental benefits, this film utilizes a composite technology that combines biaxially oriented polyethylene with a functional sealing layer, enabling it to effectively block gases and moisture while maintaining high tensile strength and tear resistance.
Unidirectionally oriented polyethylene film (MDOPE) is becoming increasingly popular.
