At the 2026 National Spring Nitrogen Fertilizer Market Situation Analysis Conference, the Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association reported that China’s synthetic ammonia production in 2025 was 77.687 million tons. According to the New Fertilizer Network, by 2025 China’s synthetic ammonia production capacity will be 78.88 million tons, representing a net increase of 980,000 tons year-on-year (an increase of 1.3%). According to customs data, in 2025 China exported 338,600 tons of synthetic ammonia, a surge of 277%, while the total amount of synthetic ammonia imported was 348,500 tons. In 2024, the national production of synthetic ammonia was 73.077 million tons. From January to December 2024, a total of 470,700 tons of synthetic ammonia were imported, while 89,700 tons were exported.
