In order to keep track of the developments in the fertilizer market and enhance information monitoring as well as regulatory support services, on July 24, the National Agricultural Technology Center invited experts from organizations such as the China Fertilizer Information Center, the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, the China Phosphorus and Compound Fertilizer Industry Association, the Potassium Salts and Fertilizers Branch of the China Inorganic Salt Industry Association, and the China Agricultural Inputs Distribution Association to hold a meeting on the supply and demand situation of fertilizers across the country. The meeting was used to analyze the current supply and demand situation of fertilizers nationwide, as well as to predict trends in supply, demand, and prices during the summer sowing and autumn/winter planting periods. The experts present exchanged views on the impact of the pandemic on the fertilizer industry during the spring planting season, analyzed the production, distribution, sales, and import/export trends of major fertilizer products in the first half of the year, and predicted the supply and demand situation for fertilizers during the summer planting and autumn/winter planting periods based on factors such as production capacity, inventory, and import/export levels. Overall, there is an ample supply of major fertilizer products at present, with demand remaining stable or slightly declining and prices staying low. It is expected that during the later stage of summer planting and the autumn/winter planting period, there will be a sufficient supply of fertilizers, steady demand, and slight price fluctuations in certain areas and during peak fertilizer usage periods. In-depth discussions were also held on strengthening the sharing of fertilizer information and establishing a fertilizer quality traceability system.
