Environmental compliance inspection completed for Shandong Hengxin New Energy’s 500,000-ton ethanol production facility

In January 2026, Shandong Rongxin Group posted a notice on its official website regarding the environmental impact assessment for the completion of Shandong Hengxin New Energy Co., Ltd.’s 500,000 tons per year ethanol production project. Shandong Hengxin produces 500,000 tons of ethanol by using atmospheric pressure circulating fluidized bed gasification to generate gas; the process utilizes coke oven gas and water gas as raw materials, along with the methanol-to-dimethyl ether synthesis technology from the Southwest Research Institute and the ethanol synthesis technology from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics. Coke oven gas and water gas are first used to produce methanol; methanol is then used to synthesize dimethyl ether, which is carbonylated to produce methyl acetate, and methyl acetate is hydrogenated to produce ethanol. Commissioned in January 2025.
