According to Shanxi Huayu Coal Chemical, on February 27, 2026, the installation of the main structure for the new flash vapor scrubber tower in the methanol synthesis workshop was completed. The newly added flash vapor scrubber is designed to eliminate the risks of residual combustible gases being carried away by the flash vapor in the original process, to recover residual methanol efficiently, to improve intrinsic safety, and to turn what were \"vulnerability points\" into \"resource generation points\". It is estimated that once the project is operational, 150 tons of methanol can be recovered each year, generating an additional revenue of nearly 300,000 yuan. The first phase of the Shanxi Jinmei Huayu high-sulfur coal clean utilization project utilizes 4 space furnaces, air separation technology from Air Products in the United States, Qingdao Lianxin’s isothermal sulfur-tolerant shift process with high CO and low water vapor ratio, low-temperature methanol washing for desulfurization and decarbonization, and the Casari methanol synthesis technology, to produce 1.2 million tons of methanol per year. It was completed and put into operation in August 2018.
