According to a report from Wuhuan Company in April 2026, the Fujian Haichen project has seen efficient coordination of construction efforts, resulting in an accelerated pace of development: the civil work for the methanol plant has been completed, and work has now shifted to the equipment installation phase； The 4 5,000-cubic-meter stainless steel storage tanks in the tank farm were quickly covered in 48 days, setting a new record for efficiency ； The installation of the upper structure of the external pipe gallery is being accelerated, with a gradual transition to the installation of pipelines and electrical and instrumentation systems ； Significant progress has been made in the construction of the substation and cabinet rooms; efforts are being made to complete the construction by mid-May, thereby laying a solid foundation for subsequent power connection and joint testing, with the goal of reaching the milestones of completion and trial operation by August 30. According to Fujian Power Construction, on February 10, the core structure of the third floor of the power distribution building for the 220 kV main substation project and related transmission line projects at Fujian Haichen Chemical Co., Ltd., which is being constructed by the company, was completed. According to a report from Shanghai Huayi Engineering in March, the civil engineering work for Fujian Haichen’s acetic acid project has been completed, and the project is now in the stage of equipment installation and system integration. The construction project for Fujian Haichen Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 400,000-ton caprolactam and related raw material production facilities includes a 400,000-ton caprolactam plant, a 400,000-ton ammonia synthesis plant, a 500,000-ton acetic acid plant, a 60,000-ton PSA hydrogen production plant, as well as other supporting utility facilities. The ammonia/hydrogen/methanol/acetic acid production process uses coal as raw material; gasification is employed to produce crude syngas, which is then processed through shift reaction and heat recovery, as well as low-temperature methanol washing, to yield shifted and purified gas. Part of the purified gas is washed with liquid nitrogen to remove CO and then mixed with nitrogen before being sent to the ammonia synthesis unit to produce 400,000 tons per year of liquid ammonia. Another part is used to produce high-purity hydrogen through PSA, while the remaining portion is utilized to produce 350,000 tons per year of methanol. Methanol together with the CO produced in the CO production unit is used to manufacture 500,000 tons per year of acetic acid.
