Dear seniors: When superheated steam at 1 ton, 300 degrees, and 0.8 MPa is cooled by spraying water (using deionized water at 105 degrees) to produce saturated steam at around 0.4 MPa and 142 degrees, how many tons of saturated steam will be generated?
How much boiler feedwater was used? The mass flow rate remains constant.
Not by much; the enthalpy of steam at 300 degrees is not significantly higher than that of saturated steam at 142 degrees, as the latent heat of vaporization is large
