What I said yesterday was a bit incorrect; an alkene refers to a hydrocarbon that contains a C=C bond (a carbon-carbon double bond). They belong to unsaturated hydrocarbons and are divided into alkenes and cycloalkenes. They are named monoenes, dienes, etc., according to the number of double bonds they contain. The chemical formula of dimethyl ether is CH3—O—CH3, so it is not a liquefied olefin.
