Although hot work is quite common, it poses a higher level of risk in fields such as chemical production, and it is a key aspect in accident prevention. We must say “no” to unauthorized hot work to ensure safe production! What is hot work? It refers to unconventional operations other than those in process setups that can directly or indirectly generate open flames, such as the use of welding, gas welding (cutting), blowtorches, electric drills, grinding wheels, and other tools that may produce flames, sparks, or hot surfaces. http://p0.itc.cn/images01/20201109/fdf788d2071647169b111232e556af68.png1. Those without a special operation permit are not allowed to perform welding or cutting tasks; welders and cutters must hold the necessary certificates to work, and those without such certificates shall not engage in these activities.2. Welding and cutting operations should not be carried out in rainy weather or in outdoor areas without proper safety measures. Rainy conditions can make the ground slippery, increasing the risk of slips or falls. Additionally, the human body’s electrical resistance is lower in rainy weather, raising the risk of electric shock. 3. Containers that have held flammable, explosive, and hazardous materials, without having their bottoms cleaned or their combustible gas concentrations checked, may release toxic and harmful gases when welding or cutting is performed inside them. Carrying out welding tasks without first cleaning such containers can lead to poisoning or fire accidents. 4. Working inside containers without 12-volt low-voltage lighting and poor ventilation can lead to misoperations or other safety hazards, especially when welding or cutting is performed in conditions of insufficient lighting. Toxic and harmful gases and dust are generated during welding, and poisoning accidents can easily occur in poorly ventilated areas. 5. There is no power outage inside the equipment, and the pressure has not been released. Welding or cutting the equipment without turning off the power can lead to electric shock accidents. Welding a pressure vessel without releasing its pressure can easily lead to the expulsion of gases or liquids. 6. There are flammable and explosive materials around the work area that have not been removed; welding or cutting in such areas where these materials remain can lead to them catching fire from sparks. 7. The properties of the material to be welded are unclear, and it is not known where the sparks will go; furthermore, the properties of the objects to be welded or cut are unknown, which increases the risk of unpredictable accidents. 8. Incomplete or malfunctioning safety accessories on the equipment are a problem; the welding cable, grounding wire, welding torch of welding machines, as well as accessories such as check valves and fusible plugs on acetylene cylinders, are important elements for ensuring the safety of welding and cutting operations. 9. When welding or cutting in boilers, containers, and other equipment without dedicated supervision, without appropriate protective measures, or in confined spaces, there must be someone assigned to monitor the situation so that immediate action can be taken in case of any danger. 10. In areas where welding and cutting are prohibited, no safety measures are taken, the necessary procedures are not followed, and the risk of fire is high.
