I didn’t graduate from a chemical engineering program; I have been working on the front line of polyamide 66 resin production. As my working experience has increased, I’ve become more and more aware of my lack of knowledge in this field. Many problems can only be dealt with based on experience, but the underlying causes are not clear. I hope experts can offer some advice regarding what theoretical knowledge is necessary for chemical production
1. Chemical safety knowledge, 2. Principles of chemical reactions, 3. Process flows, 4. Equipment purposes, 5. Control principles
Start with safety aspects, learn the theoretical knowledge and practical on-site experience, determine what basic requirements are needed for the position, master the most fundamental operations first, and then gradually move on to learning other things
Nylon 66? Are you referring to DuPont or Invista? Polymers exhibit strong particularities from the very beginning of the post-polymerization process, after all, it is a non-ideal system. Theory is important, but to address problems in non-ideal systems, a deeper understanding may be required. Excluding the generally applicable theoretical knowledge, specific considerations should be taken from two aspects: on one hand, the core is polymerization reactions, and on the other hand, it is non-ideal flow.
