Can a hot-water/cold-water heat exchanger for heating be used for steam-cold-water heat exchange?

Originally, the heat source was hot water from geothermal wells; now it has been changed to low-pressure steam. I’m not sure if the heat exchanger still needs to be replaced
Heating cold water with steam should fall under pressure vessels and is considered special equipment; therefore, it cannot be replaced.
This requires calculation; various data are needed, as words alone aren’t sufficient
Sure! It’s just much less efficient!

The gaskets of plate heat exchangers are greatly affected by temperature; HEPDM is required at 140 degrees
