Can sulfuric acid pipelines be laid in trenches? Are there any regulations or policies stating that sulfuric acid pipelines cannot be laid in trenches?
The codes do not permit it; see Pressure Pipeline Design and Engineering Examples, page 503

According to the provisions in the \"National Training Manual for Pressure Pipeline Designers and Approvers (Fourth Edition)\\", pipelines carrying corrosive media can be laid in trenches； Based on the above provisions, corrosive medium pipelines cannot be laid in pipe trenches either ； (HG20546.2) “Design of Pressure Piping and Engineering Examples” – this statement is rather vague; it suggests that such piping is generally not suitable for transporting corrosive substances. If it’s absolutely necessary, should the bottom and walls of the trench also be treated to resist acid corrosion?
