Pure ammonia is non-corrosive, while ammonia solution is highly corrosive. Carbon steel pipes can also be used, but corrosion margin must be considered. It’s more reasonable to use 304 material; using 316 material would be even better: lol
Liquid ammonia at 11 degrees is completely fine with carbon steel. -33 degrees requires low-temperature steel
Carbon steel material can be used. However, for -33 degrees, low-temperature container steel (Q345DR) must be used, and petroleum cracking pipes must be selected for the pipelines.
Liquid ammonia can be handled with carbon steel; all the designs I’ve created use carbon steel. However, low-temperature applications require low-temperature steel, while ammonia solutions demand stainless steel
-33 degrees is already lower than -20 degrees. The operating temperature for ordinary carbon steel must not be below -20 degrees; therefore, if carbon steel is to be used, special low-temperature steel should be employed, or it is recommended to use Q345E as specified in GB6479 – it is the only material for which low-temperature impact tests at -40 degrees are required
