What does it mean when two instruments in a PID diagram are connected by a dashed line? What does the dashed line represent – is it a pipe?

There are various types of logic for controlling instruments, such as cascade control, where the output value of one instrument serves as the setpoint for another instrument. So the dashed line in the diagram is the signal line
According to HG/T 20505 2014, dashed lines in P&ID diagrams represent electrical signals, thin solid lines with double diagonal slashes represent gas signals, and thin solid lines with small circles represent data links
