As the title suggests, I’m seeking advice on facilities such as emergency collection tanks and accident containment pits, which require gas detection systems; what is an appropriate height for installing the sensors?
For flammable gases that are less dense than air, the installation height of the flammable gas detector should be 0.3–0.6 meters. In the case of a pool, I believe it should be installed at a height of 0.3–0.6 meters from the pool’s exhaust outlet; after all, the gas rises from the bottom upward.
Our current installation height is around 0.2. Is that acceptable? As far as I understand, the requirement that flammable gases are heavier than air is that the height should be between 0.3 and 0.6 measured from the ground level. Since the tank is below the ground, leaks start to spread from the bottom of the tank; so what’s the point of having the installation height at 0.3-0.6 above the tank surface?
This is a rather tricky problem: the liquid level in the accident water tank should be variable. But where should it be installed? Which code specifies the installation of detectors in accident water tanks?

Actually, I couldn’t find any specifications stating that it’s necessary to install one. But my understanding is that in an emergency situation, the spill containment pond collects any leaked liquids. If those liquids are flammable, they will generate VOCs, allowing the sensor to detect any leaks.
Jiangsu Province has strict regulations; I’ve even seen gas detectors installed above the circulation tanks, in order to detect leaks in the heat exchangers and any leakage of flammable materials into those tanks. :lol
