Regarding the material for the external insulation of liquefied hydrocarbon equipment, Section 6.1.2 of the petrochemical regulations states that the insulation layers of tanks for liquefied hydrocarbons and flammable liquids should be made of non-combustible materials. When the insulation layer is made of flame-retardant foam plastic, its oxygen index should not be less than 30. Can rigid polyurethane foam be used provided that the oxygen index requirements are met? What specifications dictate the use of foam glass? Thank you all for your replies.
If the oxygen index of rigid polyurethane foam is not less than 30, it can be used for insulation in liquefied hydrocarbon equipment. As for foam glass, it is usually chosen due to its good flame-retardant properties and water resistance; however, the specific requirements must be checked in the relevant industry standards or **norms. .
As long as it meets the requirements, we use polyurethane tubing with an oxygen index of over 30%. Some use B1 grade rubber-plastic panels (Huamei).
