A hydrogen production project in Inner Mongolia is seeking bids for 160 electrolyzers, with a total investment of 17 billion yuan. Date of the bidding: December 10, 2024. Recently, Inner Mongolia Jizhong New Energy issued a tender announcement for the preliminary investigation phase of a wind and solar-powered hydrogen production project in Siziwang Banner. The preliminary survey for the Inner Mongolia Jizhong New Energy Siziwangqi wind-solar hydrogen production integrated project, which is the subject of this tender, has been approved by Hebei Jizhong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. The funding for this project comes from the company itself, with a 100% contribution rate; the tendering party is Hebei Jizhong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. According to Hydrogen Energy Hub (WeChat official account: h2-2005), the integrated wind and solar hydrogen production project in Siziwang Banner, carried out by Inner Mongolia Jizhong New Energy, was approved by the Inner Mongolia Energy Bureau on October 25, 2024. The total investment in this project is 17 billion yuan, and the entity responsible for its implementation is Inner Mongolia Jizhong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. Main construction scale and contents: The total installed capacity of the project is 2.4 million kilowatts, of which 1.25 million kilowatts come from wind power and 1.15 million kilowatts from photovoltaic power generation. There will also be 40,000 kilowatts of 12-hour energy storage capacity, as well as 4 220-kilovolt step-up substations, 1 220-kilovolt step-down substation, and various auxiliary facilities such as box transformers, power transmission lines, and maintenance roads. Additionally, a hydrogen production plant will be built simultaneously, with a designed annual hydrogen production capacity of 96,600 tons. On September 2, 2024, the “Environmental Impact Assessment Information Disclosure Platform” published the information regarding the environmental impact assessment of Inner Mongolia Jizhong New Energy’s integrated wind and solar hydrogen production project in Siziwang Banner. On July 2, 2024, the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Siziwang Banner released information stating that the integrated demonstration project for wind, solar, hydrogen storage, and ammonia production in Siziwang Banner, Inner Mongolia, is implemented in two phases: integrated wind and solar hydrogen production and the production of green ammonia, with a total investment of 18.9 billion yuan. Among them, the integrated wind and solar hydrogen production project is planned to require an investment of 17 billion yuan. Build 1.25 million kilowatts of wind power capacity and 1.15 million kilowatts of photovoltaic capacity. Install hydrogen production equipment using alkaline electrolysis with a capacity of 192,000 Nm³/h; set up 160 sets of alkaline electrolyzers with a capacity of 1,200 Nm³/h, as well as 36 spherical storage tanks with a capacity of 2,000 m³ each for storing hydrogen. The total hydrogen storage capacity will be 792,000 Nm³. The designed hydrogen production capacity is 96,600 tons per year. The investment in the synthetic green ammonia project amounts to 1.8 billion yuan, with the project being constructed in three phases. Utilizing advanced domestic ammonia synthesis technology, green electricity generated from wind farms upstream is used as energy; an electrolysis system for hydrogen production is installed to produce hydrogen, while a corresponding air separation unit is used to produce nitrogen. Hydrogen and nitrogen are then combined to produce green ammonia, with an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons.
