Recently, the 60% scale model review meeting was successfully held for Fujian Haichen Chemical’s project aimed at producing 400,000 tons of adiponitrile per year along with the corresponding raw materials. At the meeting, relying on 3D model demonstrations and taking full account of the feedback from the 30% model review conducted earlier, the project team carried out a comprehensive and thorough review as well as in-depth discussions of units such as gasification and syngas washing, slag treatment, methane reduction, and shift reaction. The successful conclusion of this model review meeting marks an important milestone in the completion of the project. The project utilizes 6.5 Mpa pressurized pulverized coal gasification, with a shift system capable of handling a dry basis gas flow rate of ≥300,000 Nm3/h; controlled heat transfer (isothermal) shift technology is employed to ensure that the dry basis CO concentration at the exit of the shift system is ≤0.8%. This process flow and the accompanying DX-V type isothermal conversion furnace have been successfully applied in nearly 70 units, with all performance indicators showing excellent results. Project Overview: Project Name: Project for Annual Production of 400,000 tons of adiponitrile and related raw materials. Developer: Fujian Haichen Chemical Co., Ltd. Location: Gulei Port Economic Development Zone, Zhangzhou, Fujian Province. Project Investment: Total investment of 14.8 billion yuan. Construction Scope: Construction of a 400,000-ton adiponitrile production facility, a 400,000-ton ammonia synthesis facility, a 500,000-ton acetic acid production facility, a 60,900-ton PSA hydrogen production facility, as well as other utility and supporting facilities ; This project uses coal as a raw material to produce crude syngas through gasification; the crude syngas is then processed via shift reaction and heat recovery, as well as low-temperature methanol washing, to yield shifted purified gas and heat-recovered purified gas. Part of it is washed with liquid nitrogen to remove CO and then mixed with nitrogen before being sent to the ammonia synthesis unit to produce 400,000 tons per year of liquid ammonia. Another part is used to produce high-purity hydrogen through methanol distillation, while the remaining portion is used to produce 350,000 tons per year of methanol as an intermediate product. The methanol intermediate product, together with the CO gas produced by the CO production unit, is used in the acetic acid production process to yield 500,000 tons per year of acetic acid. Haichen Chemical was established in 2023 and is jointly owned by Fujian Fuhua Gulei Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and China Tianchen. The 400,000 tons per year adiponitrile and related raw materials production project is a key component in Fujian Energy Petrochemical Group’s efforts to develop the industrial chain that spans ethylene cracking, butadiene, adiponitrile, hexamethylenediamine, and nylon 66. This project not only plays a vital role in supplying raw materials for the entire industrial chain, but it also provides enterprises in the Gulei industrial park with abundant raw materials and intermediate chemicals, thereby playing a crucial role in helping the group establish a complete industrial chain and achieve integrated development across upstream and downstream processes in that area.
