When pergolas and structures are constructed using steel frameworks, it is common to encounter structural requirements that dictate the use of concrete encasements for the steel column footings Is it necessary? According to Article 18.2.4 of the \"Code for Design of Steel Structures\" (GB50017-2017), high levels of moisture and electrolytes are present mainly at the column foot locations, which accelerates the corrosion of steel structures. Since these areas are key points under stress in the structure, enhanced protection is required. In terms of landscape effects, it’s actually very difficult to achieve. Most projects do not allow the foot of a column to be above the finished surface. Steel columns located in green areas often have their underground portions wrapped up tightly to avoid dry grass, as required by aesthetic standards for landscaping; as a result, it is difficult to ensure proper corrosion protection for the feet of these steel columns.
