In the industrial sector, pipeline heating is a crucial measure to prevent the medium from freezing and to maintain the process temperature. Currently, electric heat tracing has become the preferred choice due to its high efficiency, precise control, and safety and reliability. Key factors in selection: When choosing a specific heat tracing material, it is necessary to evaluate your specific requirements comprehensively. You can consider the following points: 1. Temperature requirements: Determine the temperature range that the pipeline needs to be maintained at. Low-temperature freeze protection (e.g., 0–105°C): Self-regulating temperature strips usually meet the requirements. Maintenance at medium to high temperatures (such as around 150°C): a constant-power heating strip is a suitable choice. Ultra-high temperature environments (up to 600°C): MI mineral-insulated heating cables must be used. 2. Explosion-proof and corrosive environments: In areas such as the petroleum and chemical industries where flammable and explosive gases are present, it is crucial to choose heating tapes that have explosion-proof certification. At the same time, if there is chemical corrosion in the environment, it is necessary to ensure that the product’s outer coating has the appropriate corrosion resistance. 3. Pipe length and installation: Measure the length of the pipes that require heating. For short pipes, self-regulating heat tracing tapes are easy to install. For pipelines that are thousands of meters long, series-connected constant-power heat tracing cables or MI cables are better suited to meet the requirements for long-distance heating; they allow for a reduction in the number of power supply points and simplify the design. 4. Medium properties: Consider the characteristics of the medium inside the pipeline, such as whether it is a material that tends to crystallize or has high viscosity; these factors impose specific requirements on maintaining its fluidity or process temperature.
