On November 19, Sinopec Qilu Branch announced the winners of four bidding rounds for the design work related to key projects under the Lu Oil and Lu Refining transformation and upgrading initiative, including the design for a 1.3 million tons per year aromatic extraction unit and a 234,000 tons per year vinyl chloride production unit. The winner for the design of the core infrastructure for these units was Shandong Qilu Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. The winner for the design of the infrastructure for the aromatic compounds processing area and the central laboratory in the chemical zone was Shandong Daqi Petrochemical Design Co., Ltd. The winner for the design of the infrastructure for the 220 kV main substation was Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute Co., Ltd., while the winner for the design of the infrastructure for the 200,000 tons per year ion-exchange membrane caustic soda production unit was China Chengda Engineering Co., Ltd. It is reported that the total investment in the construction of this project is 2,449,335 million yuan, with completion and operation planned for 2027. By then, Qilu Petrochemical will have a refining capacity of 16 million tons per year and an ethylene production capacity of 1 million tons per year, becoming the first green and intelligent demonstration site in China that integrates refining, high-end materials, and hydrogen energy, and providing a \"Qilu solution\" for the high-quality development of China’s petrochemical industry.
