Can reaction engineering textbooks assume a “multiphase” scenario by default?

Textbooks on reaction engineering often focus on multiphase systems; I think that reactions are basically multiphase in most cases. If it’s assumed by default that reactions are multiphase, it saves a lot of space, doesn’t it?
What course is the original poster studying? Is this further education? :):):):):)
